Use BitterClip from your AI assistant
You connect BitterClip to ChatGPT or Claude once, then you make clips by talking to your assistant. No timeline, no settings to learn. You ask for a good moment, and the transcript editor opens right there in the chat with a clip already picked. From there you watch it, nudge the edges if you want, and export when it's right. You never leave the chat.
You'll need a BitterClip account first, which is free to start. Already have one and just want the connect steps? Jump to Connect your assistant.
BitterClip is free to start. Create your account and you're in a working space right away. We'll email you a verification link when you sign up — click it to start uploading and transcribing recordings.
BitterClip turns a long video or audio recording into short clips you can trust. You bring the recording; it writes out a transcript with every word tied to the moment it was spoken. Then you, or an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude, pick the strongest moments, and BitterClip cuts the exact clip straight from the audio. No timeline to drag, no timestamps to guess. It runs in your browser at app.bitterclip.com.
Try the editor right here
This is the same transcript editor your assistant opens for you. Have a play with it.
What you can ask for
Once your assistant is connected, you can just ask in plain words. Try:
"Pull up my latest interview and find the strongest moment."
BitterClip opens that episode for you right in the chat, with a strong clip already picked out and the cut ready to review. From there you can keep talking to it: "make it a bit shorter," "start it on her question," "find me one more." It adjusts until the clip is right.
You don't have to phrase it any particular way. "Pull up my interview," "find me something worth posting," and "cut the part where she talks about pricing" all work. The assistant reads the transcript, finds the moment, and opens it.
What your assistant can do for you
These are a handful of the things you can ask for once you're connected. The main one opens your episode in the editor with a strong clip already selected, so you can watch it and tune the edges right away. You can also ask it to pull in a recording for you. Point it at a file or a link and it adds the recording to your project.
A few of the things you can ask your assistant to do. It knows plenty more; this is a short, friendly tour, not the full list.
| What you can ask for | What happens |
|---|---|
| Open my episode with a strong clip picked (the main one) | Opens an episode in the transcript editor right inside the chat, with a strong moment already selected for you to review, trim, or swap. This is the quick win: you go from a long recording to a clip in front of you without leaving the conversation. |
| Find the right episode | Lists your episodes so the assistant can find the one you mean. |
| Read the transcript | Reads the full transcript of an episode so the assistant understands what was said before it suggests anything. |
| Find the cleanest cut points | Looks closely at one stretch of an episode to find clean spots to start and end a clip, so a cut never lands mid-word. |
| Give me an upload link | Hands you a link to drop in a video or audio file. It uploads to BitterClip and starts transcribing on its own. |
| Add a recording from a link | Adds a recording from a public link, instead of a file on your computer. |
| Save the clip we picked | Saves the clip you and the assistant settled on. This just stores your choice; it doesn't render a video yet and doesn't use an export credit. |
| Render the finished video | Turns the clip you picked into a finished video you can download, with captions burned in by default. A new render uses one export credit; asking again while it's still rendering, or when it's already done, doesn't spend another. |
| Is my video ready yet? | Checks how a render is coming along and hands back the download link once it's ready. |
| Is my YouTube connected? | Checks whether your YouTube channel is connected before publishing there. |
| Is my LinkedIn connected? | Checks whether your LinkedIn account is connected before posting. |
| Is my X connected? | Checks whether your X account is connected before posting. |
| Get this ready to post | Stages a finished clip for your connected channels: YouTube, LinkedIn, and X. Depending on how the project is set up, it either posts on its own or waits for your go-ahead first. |
| Approve and post it | Posts a staged clip after you've looked it over and given the go-ahead. |
| Make a shareable link | Publishes a finished clip as a shareable player you can embed on any website, if your plan includes it. |
How it connects
There's nothing to install and nothing to run on your computer. You point your assistant at https://app.bitterclip.com/mcp, and it opens a normal browser window so you can sign in to BitterClip. You do that once. After that your assistant can reach your recordings whenever you ask, and your account stays on BitterClip's own site.
What lives in chat, and what lives in the web app
Your assistant is built for one job: finding, reviewing, and tuning clips with you. It can also check whether a channel is connected and post a clip you've prepared. That keeps the conversation simple. Everything else lives in the web app.
Nothing posts until you set it up
You stay in control of what goes out. Nothing gets posted until you set up a channel first, and connecting one just lets BitterClip post on your behalf when you ask it to.
Each project has its own publishing setting, and you choose which one fits:
- Wait for my approval (the default): clips are prepared as drafts and sit ready for you to look over. Nothing goes out until you say so.
- Publish automatically: once you turn this on for a project, ready clips post to your connected channels on their own. You opt into it, so it's never the starting point.
Your account, your plan, and your payment details always live on BitterClip's own site, and nothing you connect can reach them.
Connect your assistant
Connecting takes a minute and it works the same way on both. You add BitterClip as a connection and sign in once with the account you made above.
- Connect ChatGPT: add BitterClip as a connector and sign in.
- Connect Claude: add BitterClip as a connection and sign in.
