# Use BitterClip from your AI assistant

You connect BitterClip to ChatGPT or Claude once, then you make clips by talking to your
assistant. No timeline, no settings to learn. You ask for a good moment, and the transcript
editor opens right there in the chat with a clip already picked. From there you watch it,
nudge the edges if you want, and export when it's right. The same work is waiting in your
browser whenever that is easier.

Claude supports custom connectors on every plan. In ChatGPT, custom-app access and the
actions an app may take depend on your plan and workspace policy. BitterClip's browser
workspace works for everyone.

You'll need a BitterClip account first, which is free to start. Already have one and just
want the connect steps? [Jump to Connect your assistant](#connect-your-assistant).

## Try the editor right here

This is the same transcript editor your assistant opens for you. Have a play with it.

## What you can ask for

You don't have to phrase it any particular way. "Pull up my interview," "find me something
worth posting," and "cut the part where she talks about pricing" all work. The assistant
reads the transcript, finds the moment, and opens it.

## What your assistant can do for you

These are a handful of the things you can ask for once you're connected. The main one opens
your episode in the editor with a strong clip already selected, so you can watch it and tune
the edges right away. You can also ask it to pull in a recording for you. Point it at a file
or a link and it adds the recording to your project.

plain words.

## What lives in chat, and what lives in the web app

Your assistant is built for one job: finding, reviewing, and tuning clips with you. It can
also check whether a channel is connected and post a clip you've prepared. That keeps the
conversation simple. Everything else lives in the web app.

## Connect your assistant

Both assistants connect to the same BitterClip account, but their setup rules differ.
Choose the guide for the host you use:

- **[Connect ChatGPT](/docs/assistants/connect-chatgpt)**: enable custom apps, add
BitterClip, then sign in. Workspace policy may require an admin.
- **[Connect Claude](/docs/assistants/connect-claude)**: add BitterClip as a custom
connector on any Claude plan, then sign in.

If the connection doesn't take or your recordings don't show up, the
[troubleshooting guide](/docs/help/troubleshooting) covers the usual fixes, and you can
always reach us:
