Connect Claude
Connect BitterClip to Claude once and you can make clips just by asking. After that, the BitterClip tools and a live transcript editor show up right inside your conversation. Here's how to set it up and pull your first clip.
Before you start
A couple of things to have ready first:
- A BitterClip account. It's free to start.
- A recording you've uploaded, so you have something to clip.
You manage your connections under Settings in the BitterClip app.
Add BitterClip as a connector in Claude
There's nothing to install and nothing to run on your computer. You point your assistant at https://app.bitterclip.com/mcp, and it opens a normal browser window so you can sign in to BitterClip. You do that once. After that your assistant can reach your recordings whenever you ask, and your account stays on BitterClip's own site.
There's nothing to download or run on your computer:
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors — or go straight to claude.ai/customize/connectors — and click Add custom connector (it's marked BETA).
- Fill in:
- Name — BitterClip
- URL — paste the address above (it ends in
/mcp):https://app.bitterclip.com/mcp - Leave Advanced settings (OAuth Client ID / Secret) blank — you don't need them.
- Click Add.

Connect and sign in
BitterClip now shows up in your connectors with "You are not connected to BitterClip yet." Click Connect, then sign in to your BitterClip account in the window Claude opens. That's the only sign-in step.

You'll know it worked when BitterClip's tools turn up in your conversation and Claude can answer about your recordings.
Make your first clip in chat
If your account is empty, upload a recording first so there's something to clip. You can do that from the browser walkthrough. Once you have a recording, ask Claude in plain words:
Once your assistant is connected, you can just ask in plain words. Try:
"Pull up my latest interview and find the strongest moment."
BitterClip opens that episode for you right in the chat, with a strong clip already picked out and the cut ready to review. From there you can keep talking to it: "make it a bit shorter," "start it on her question," "find me one more." It adjusts until the clip is right.
Review and export in the editor that opens
When Claude picks out a strong moment, the transcript editor opens right in the conversation with that clip already selected. You'll see the words, who's speaking, and the cut Claude chose. Read it over the way you'd read a paragraph. The cut comes straight from the words you keep, so you can trace it back to the exact spot it came from.
Nothing is final yet. Keep talking to Claude to nudge the edges ("start it on her question," "trim the last few seconds"), or drag the selection yourself. When it looks right, ask Claude to export it. That render is a separate step, and the finished clip lands in your project once it's done.
Nothing posts until you set it up
You stay in control of what goes out. Nothing gets posted until you set up a channel first, and connecting one just lets BitterClip post on your behalf when you ask it to.
Each project has its own publishing setting, and you choose which one fits:
- Wait for my approval (the default): clips are prepared as drafts and sit ready for you to look over. Nothing goes out until you say so.
- Publish automatically: once you turn this on for a project, ready clips post to your connected channels on their own. You opt into it, so it's never the starting point.
Your account, your plan, and your payment details always live on BitterClip's own site, and nothing you connect can reach them.
Troubleshooting
If a connection won't stick or a clip doesn't show up, see the troubleshooting guide.
