Connect X
Once X is connected, BitterClip can post a finished clip to your feed for you. This page walks through the sign-in and what you're agreeing to.
Before you start
A couple of things to have ready first:
- A BitterClip account. It's free to start.
- A recording you've uploaded, so you have something to clip.
You manage your connections under Settings in the BitterClip app.
What connecting X lets you do
When you connect, X asks you to approve the permissions below. Each one does this:
This connection lets BitterClip:
- Post to your X feed
- Attach your clip's video to the post
- See your posts so it can build threads correctly
- Read your basic account info
- Stay connected so you don't have to reconnect each time
One of those permissions lets BitterClip read your posts. That's so a clip can go out as a short thread when it makes sense, with the parts in the right order.
Connect X
- Open Settings in the BitterClip app.
- Find X under Publishing accounts and click Connect.
- Sign in to X and approve the permissions above.
When you return to BitterClip, the X row should show Connected.
What gets posted, and when
You stay in control of what goes out. Nothing gets posted until you set up a channel first, and connecting one just lets BitterClip post on your behalf when you ask it to.
Each project has its own publishing setting, and you choose which one fits:
- Wait for my approval (the default): clips are prepared as drafts and sit ready for you to look over. Nothing goes out until you say so.
- Publish automatically: once you turn this on for a project, ready clips post to your connected channels on their own. You opt into it, so it's never the starting point.
Your account, your plan, and your payment details always live on BitterClip's own site, and nothing you connect can reach them.
Reconnecting
Sometimes a channel you already connected shows "Reconnect required" in Settings. That's normal. It usually means X needs you to sign in again so BitterClip can keep the permissions it needs to post for you. Newer features can also ask for a permission your earlier connection didn't include.
If X shows Reconnect required, sign in again to renew your posting access. Your earlier setup stays in place.
To fix it, open Settings, find X in your connections, and choose Reconnect. You'll sign in and approve again, and the channel goes back to "Connected." Nothing you set up before is lost.
