How we make money
From the subscription, by building a good workbench, not by reselling AI. The built-in agent costs what OpenRouter billed for each request plus a flat 15%, which covers OpenRouter's fees, card processing and requests that fail after they're billed. Your own ChatGPT or Claude can run the whole editor on the plan you already pay for. We run the company lean, so the subscription is enough.

Every seat is billed, including invitations nobody accepted
VEED's help center says: 'All VEED paid plans are billed per seat.' And: 'Pending invitations count as seats. If you have invited someone who has not accepted yet, you are still charged for them.' A new seat is charged, prorated, straight away. Removing one turns the unused time into account credit, not a refund.

VEED's privacy policy names an activity called Development and Improvement Processing: 'training and developing any relevant artificial intelligence models (including associated pre-training, testing, benchmarking, adaptation and refinement).' It covers 'relevant personal data included in content submitted or uploaded to our Applications by users under a Free subscription', and it carves out the mobile apps: 'this does not include any content submitted or uploaded via our mobile applications.' Self-serve plans have no trial, so that free tier is where you'd test VEED.

Is VEED worth it?
Yes, if your video work is many different small jobs done fast in a browser: subtitles, translation, dubbing, a screen recording, a template-driven ad. When the work is one recording that has to become a finished episode and clips every week, BitterClip fits better.
What is the best VEED alternative?
For turning podcasts, interviews, or client sessions into finished episodes and vertical clips week after week, BitterClip. You record it in the browser or bring the file you already have, cut it by editing the transcript, and get the episode plus the vertical version out of the same pass. If you want another general-purpose browser toolbox, VEED is hard to beat at that, and a straight swap will disappoint you.
Does VEED train AI on my videos?
On the free web plan, it can. VEED's privacy policy provides for AI-development use (training and developing artificial intelligence models) of personal data in content uploaded through its free web service, with content from its mobile apps carved out. Paid plans are outside that clause, but the Terms of Sale separately take a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce and use the content you submit. Read both documents before you upload a client's footage.
Does VEED have a free trial?
Not on the self-serve plans. VEED's pricing page offers a trial to enterprise customers only, with a three-user minimum, so an individual evaluates on the watermarked free tier, which is the tier whose web uploads can be used for AI development. BitterClip Creator is $1 for 7 days, then $24/month; the trial needs a card and its exports are watermarked, and paid Creator exports are clean.
Can VEED edit a two-hour podcast?
It can hold one, but it is not built around one. VEED advises keeping a project under five gigabytes and around four to five hours, the browser recorder stops at 60 minutes on every plan, and Clips needs a source with between one minute and three hours of speech. BitterClip is built for sessions like this and treats the whole assembly (cut, cameras, captions, opener, vertical version) as one job.
Does BitterClip record, or do I have to bring footage?
Yes. Every project has a browser recorder for solo takes, and the take drops straight into your edit. On paid plans, Studio records a conversation: your guest joins from a link, and each of you is recorded on your own track. On Producer, people can also record answers on their own time from one link. It doesn't record 4K.
Does BitterClip do async recording?
Yes, on Producer ($99/month). Share one link and up to 25 people record themselves in their browser, on their own time, with no account. Each take is recorded on their own device, so a weak connection can't degrade it, and each answer arrives in your project as its own transcribed episode. VEED's docs describe no equivalent: someone can record into your workspace only as an invited collaborator with a VEED account, billed as a seat.
Does VEED have an API?
Hosted AI models and an MCP server, not an editor API. VEED's models (Fabric 1.0, Lip Sync, Subtitles, Green Screen, and Background Removal) run on fal.ai, a third-party marketplace, with a FAL key; its MCP server generates Fabric avatar videos from Claude and other MCP clients; and VEED says it doesn't offer an API for the full editor. BitterClip opens the whole editing workbench (63 tools) to ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, any MCP client or the command line, and the result is an ordinary edit you can keep changing by hand.

VEED is good at what it is for, and it is for a lot. Auto-subtitles across a long language list, translation, dubbing, avatars, a screen recorder, templates, brand kits, workspaces with comments and version control. If your month holds a dubbed ad, a captioned client clip and a screen walkthrough, VEED does all three in one tab.
The trouble starts when your month is not three different jobs but the same job, three times. Cut the tangent, fix the misheard words, add the opener, cut between cameras, export, rebuild the vertical by hand. Next week, again. A template and a brand kit carry the look across, and VEED is good at both, but the assembly underneath is hand work every time — and Clips, the one feature that would build the vertical for you, will not touch a video already in your account or a project you have already exported. And the bill scales with the number of editors, so the assembly costs per head.
